According to the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, housing quality standards help ensure that homes are safe, healthy, and comfortable. Restoration Houses offer private or semi-private rooms, common areas for relaxation and socialization, and facilities for cooking and laundry. The grounds are also well kept and exemplary.
Spiritual Guidance
This would involve regular Bible studies, prayer meetings, and worship services to help residents deepen their faith and find spiritual guidance. It could also involve one-on-one pastoral counseling and opportunities for residents to serve in ministry roles.
Life Skills Training
This is crucial to help returning citizens reintegrate into society. This could include budgeting and financial management workshops, cooking and nutrition, housekeeping, time management, and interpersonal communication.
Job Training and Placement
Vocational training programs are offered in collaboration with local businesses and community colleges. These programs might cover various fields, from construction and manufacturing to IT and healthcare. Job placement assistance would then help residents find employment, leveraging partnerships with local employers willing to hire the previously incarcerated.
Wholistic Health
Wholistic health care involves addressing the physical, mental, and spiritual health needs of the residents. This involves referrals for health screenings and check-ups, mental health counseling, and fitness programs. Spiritual health is nurtured through the aforementioned spiritual guidance services.
Education Support
For residents who wish to pursue further education, Restoration House offers tutoring services, assistance with GED preparation or college enrollment, and workshops on study skills. Partnerships with local educational institutions facilitate this.
Family Reunification Support
Recognizing the importance of family in reintegration, Restoration Houses for women offer services to help them reconnect with their children and rebuild their families. This could involve parenting classes, family therapy, and supervised visitations. In the women’s Restoration House, mothers would be allowed to live with two children, providing a supportive environment for rebuilding their family unit.
